A Texas Wedding

It's been a while since my last post...that's a good thing I guess???? I've been busy with photo shoots, edits, & obligations in my life. I have sooooo many thoughts & images I want to share, but alas, there is never enough time. Here are some shots from a recent wedding I did in Columbus, Texas. I heard from a friend from my old college days & was thrilled to hear she had finally found the man for her. Then when they asked me to do the photography I was honored! After talking to several photographers they had decided I was the one for them. That made it an even bigger honor!

This was a REAL Texas wedding! They even had world champion ballroom dancers! Does anyone remember the armadillo groom's cake in Steel Magnolias? Well this wedding had a wolf! For more images than are posted here, including the wolf cake, check out my flickr page.

If you are in Dallas anytime....

I discovered this awesome hole-in-the-wall cafe/lounge in South Dallas yesterday while waiting for an apt. The Opening Bell cafe lounge is situated in the basement of an old run down area in Dallas clearly part of an attempt to revitalize the community. Walking down South Lamar Street, at the 1400 block I found a series of little spots, a market, a pub, and more. Among them was this little cafe lounge, all below ground, yet street accessible. Free wi-fi, great food, and live music was just the beginning. The tunnels walk way connecting each little spot to this great cafe is a trip all its own. The vintage doors cut in abstract shapes and hanging on slider racks help to create an ambiance of the beat generation where local artists & business folk can hang and visit or work. I can imagine Bob Dylan or Allen Ginsberg sitting in a dark corner jotting down some lyrics or poetry in one if the community sketch books sitting on the tables. Add to that image Jimmy LaFave or Ruthie Foster on stage working out a new song and you have the perfect spot! But wait....don't forget to add the adorable Will, the guy working behind the counter with the sweetest demeanor, ready to serve any request with a smile and a conversation. Be sure to check this place out on your next visit to the Southside Dallas area!

Rally for a Cure: Golf Charity Photo Shoot

I had the honor of being invited as the event photographer for the Rally for a Cure Charity Golf Tournament at Northgate Country Club in Houston. Yesterday was such a fun time with so many people! The ocean of pink againts a green background of the wooded golf course was a beautiful way to spend the day. My assistant, Cory, drove our cart & helped with the shoot, and after, we enjoyed taking our cameras inside to the brunch where raffles and silent auctions helped the cause. It was a day filled with the company of wonderful people and I would like to thank Nancy Beyer for the invitation. She set up an amazing event at a gorgeous location. Proceeds from the event will go to several organizations, primarily the Susan G. Komen & Arnie's Army foundations, all for the fight against cancer.

The wonderful ladies who put it all together!

It's all in your perspective!

Are you looking up or getting pooped on? I came across this photo that I took two years ago & stuffed away in my files because all I saw was the butt of a bird ready to drop on me (S*it happens!), but now I see a beautiful bird resting in the comfort of his tree, enjoying a moment of peace from the obnoxious dog below. Perhaps I am not the one he wants to poop on after all.

Tuesday's Toys

OK, I know, It's Wednesday! I'm a day late...but seriously, when have I ever been on schedule more than once? I started out with a cool idea/vision for these, but somehow they didn't translate the way I wanted. I will try it again soon with some adjustments. Meanwhile, I'm interested in knowing what other opinions are.

Photo Shoot with Toddlers!

I had a great time chasing two siblings around a beautiful yard on Sunday afternoon! I got lots of great shots & these are just a few of my favorites. The last shot was a mix of chance & play. I left the shutter open a bit longer than planned so I kept the camera moving in my had & I got the image split & reversed with his legs coming down over his head! Enjoy!
