The definition of Family...

OK, so I keep doing this, letting life pass me by too fast! Now all of the sudden I have nearly 4 months of blogging to do! I've been so busy shooting sessions, closing out the school year, and going on my annual trek to the great pacific northwest.

So, where do I begin to catch up??? I'll just do it randomly. Here are some highlights of a recent shoot with a family. FAMILY can be defined many different ways. While the core, traditional family has its place, the extended family, in this case Elizabeth's brother, can add great depth & value to the core group. Elizabeth's husband has this adorable pre-teen daughter he brought into their family as well. Cory was an amazing help as my assistant of course!

Boudoir Photography...WHY????

AHHHH, feeling attractive can do wonders for a person's self-esteem! I very rarely get to shoot a boudoir session, but I enjoy the process of watching a client blossom with confidence as the shoot progresses. People ask me things like "Who would they ever show these pictures to?" and "What do they do with such personal & private images?"

I can answer that easily enough. They find themselves, they find their strength, their courage, their confidence, and they sometimes discover things about themselves. They do these sessions for their spouses as a gift (Valentine's Day is just around the corner!), for modeling portfolios, or in the case of this stunningly beautiful woman, to show people that curvy is sexy.

This gorgeous client is a mom of two, & a physical fitness trainer. Her husband is the body builder in this image I shot last year.

She is in great shape, and will always be a curvy woman. How awesome is it that she sees the need & is willing to deliver the proof that curvy is sexy! Too many of our young girls today become anorexic or bulimic to meet the standard we see every day in the media. As a physical fitness trainer this concerns her, but more so as a mom of two young girls.

I was proud to be part of this positive message for our young women, and I look forward to getting more opportunities to shoot boudoir in the future. It may be fun to play dress-up, but it's rewarding to play dress-down.

Best Friends...

I had the pleasure of doing senior portraits for two beautiful girls, on separate occasions, & when I got the call to do the second session I learned she is the best friend of a previous client & that the previous client would be coming to watch. When the session was done, the client asked if her friend could be in some shots with her. I thought this was so sweet, & watching them together as I shot, I realized how little we take the time to appreciate our friends. Those dear people in our lives who do things for us (or with us) that no other person would. How great it was to be a part of this celebration of friendship! Now I shall go tell each of my own dear ones how much I love & appreciate them!

Enjoy some highlights of each session & please share your own thoughts on the topic. I love reading your comments! It lets me know you stopped by :)
