Every year I get to enjoy a fall tradition: The Texas Renaissance Festival. We don't get a great display of nature colors in this part of Texas, but we do have the best fall festival EVER! The Texas Renaissance Festival is a place where I can go to get away from the crazy whirlwind that is my life. I can get in touch with nature a bit & I can travel through time. Despite the name, it's more than the renaissance period. People come from all over dressed as all kinds of characters. It's OK to run into a fantasy character or someone from a different period of history, I loved the new Treebeard this year, but I am still coming to grips with the idea of running into a galactic warrior in a kilt! Some things just mess with my mind. ....but it's all good. My four year old surprised me this year with a strange new sense of courage: he insisted on riding the carousel, the camel, & the elephant! We enjoyed a nice ride on the carousel frog next to a beautiful young mom & her stunningly sweet little girl. My dear friend, Cory, joined us once again & his company always makes the days so much more enjoyable. The artisans, the performers, the music, the food...I wish I could live there! The mood is always fun & casual, the goal is simple: relax, enjoy the cooler weather of fall, and have a glass of mead! Forget today, go away... for a while anyway.

When actors shoot rockets...
My son goes to work with me three mornings a week. While waiting for class to start he will always grab his rockets & run out on stage looking for my students to play with him. They willingly & politely participate hoping the bell will ring soon so they can get out of it.
Then there are those days when I think they are having more fun than David! They often get quite a workout before the day has even begun, regardless of who is the instigator!
Then there is that lovely part of the game where every actor really lives: the death scene. After a few games with my actors David is now running around yelling "DIE! DIE!" while they dramatically & emotionally die a thousand deaths as they pay homage to Hamlet and others.
That's right, everyone is open game in this hunt. Friends turn on each other when the rockets are in their hands!
And just adding as an after topic, WHEN did my son go from a size 8 to a 10??? I had to go get him new shoes because none of his fit all of the sudden! He chose these red Vans. None other would compare. He even wore them out of the store. I guess they make him faster when he's running away from a rocket!

I'm a Bokeh Whore!
I love photo bling, otherwise known as bokeh, and I love anything that shimmers. Hell, I even like the word shimmer! I'm a blue jeans & t-shirt kinda gal, so I get my fix from photography bling. When I can capture a solar flare off a water drop I feel like I've found a diamond! Yesterday morning I was sitting on the couch feeling extremely unproductive when I decided to stop saying "one day I will ...." & start saying "RIGHT NOW I WILL...." SO I got up, got dressed, & went for a walk with my camera. I never even made it to my destination because I found a great spot on the way where the sun hit the dewey grass just right. BLING!
For those of you wonderful readers who have a love of black & white photography I converted a couple with you in mind!
