We have WINNERS!!!

Congrats to both Brenda & Christina for being my 50th followers (I don't know who joined first)! I had planned on giving two winners a print, thinking one could go to a current follower who brought me a new follower, but these two came via my own mouth, so they are the two! I'm waiting to hear back from Brenda as to what print she has chosen, but Christina will be getting these sunflowers. She said she wants to hang the print in her office. Yea! Am I in Heaven?

Definitely NOT! But this will certainly do for now. The weather in Houston is beautiful! Uncanny for this late in Spring, it is cold in the mornings, beautiful all day & cool w/ a nice breeze at night! I've been driving around the last few days feeling like I'm in the Pacific NW during the summer! But I'm not. I am home in Texas and it's spring time...with nothing but hope for a wonderful next few months!

Just goofing off 'cuz I need a laugh!

Ever have one of those days (or weeks) when it all seems so pointless??? Th other night I gave up, sat on the couch with my son, & opened my new macbook to play. I decided to play with the photobooth. The laughter we shared that short time on the couch was such a joy! Here are the results...though I don't expect you to laugh like we did! (but feel free to try)

Haunting Bride

Sr. Portrait session...

I can't wait to have my own indoor studio space...I have no idea when. I can imagine cool set ups, backdrops, props, & all kinds of STUFF. Meanwhile I shoot on location outdoors or find workable spots in the client's house as done here, & then we move outside for variety, but usually it does not start raining as soon as we get outside! For this shoot I was lucky enough to have clients with a beautiful house & lots of options, so when it began raining we went to the back porch & took some quick shots. I really enjoy shooting on location and using natural light! There's a lot less work involved.

I Am Texas.

I shot this for the flickr group "Bench Monday". I was inspired by a shot I saw in a magazine ad. The original photo was a tiny addition to the whole layout & I almost missed it, but when I saw it I knew! "I want to do that!" Luckly, I am a theatre teacher by day with a room full of costumes. I got a student to dress up & pose. I used Shadowhouse Creations, http://shadowhousecreations.blogspot.com/search/label/Textures,
wonderful textures to layer and I used PSE for the additional post editing work. It was fun & easy!

Puppy Love in the Sand...

I had the pleasure of shooting photos of an adorable late stage puppy, kind of pre-teen stage. You know, the stage where the feet are too big for the body & trip you up, the head is big but the face is still full of those adorable baby expressions. I have never been a dog person. I have been attacked & bitten twice, once by a wolf! This not-so-little guy was so sweet and gentle that all I could do was laugh and snap. I took over 300 pictures in about an hour and ended up with about 225 good shots. Here are a few highlights...

I've got so much going on...that's a good thing!

Well, it seems like ages since I have been here. I have been so busy with photo shoots, day job, family, & general stuff! My last post said as much & while the general stuff has changed, the issue of being busy is still there. I'm tired & feeling numb because I just bought a new Macbook Pro! It's the big one, 500 gigs. I am overwhelmed thinking of what I need to do to get familiar with it. I have started the task oflearning my way around this new tool & at the moment I think sleep will be a very good thing.

Whew!

It has been as busy couple of weeks! Here are some highlights...don't forget my contest is still going on! The person who gets me my 50th follower wins a large print of his/her choice, as does the 50th follower.

Since the photo shoot was rescheduled...

...I dragged my hubby & kid (plus the dog) outside to take pictures of them! We walked down to the bayou in the back of our neighborhood and I played with several lenses. I used the 50mm, the 100mm macro, & several different Lensbaby optics. It was great fun & practice! Today I get to do the previously scheduled photo shoot & just maybe they will be a bit better after yesterdays practice!
